One of 24/7 Real Media’s ad servers was hijacked and used to direct ad viewers to a malicious site that took advantage of a Real Player vulnerability. Well, this sort of thing does happen. It does illustrate, however, that the ad serving framework is one of the more vulnerable parts of the ‘net — not necessarily because of any inherent security weakness but because the gains to be had from compromising it are so great, it’s an attractive target for attacks.

I wonder if the server was actually hijacked, or if someone just trafficked a third party ad with the hidden IFRAME in it.
