Speaking of ad networks…

Both Marketing Pilgrim and TechCrunch posted on Martha Stewart’s new ad network, but neither points out that the technology provider for the ad network is Adify. TechCrunch did mention that the payout to the publishers was a whopping 35%. This post claims Adify takes a 20% commission. If true, that means Martha’s getting 45%.

This revshare sounds like pure fairyland to me. Not that they’ll tell us, but what’s your guess on the publisher – technology provider – sales organization split a year from now? Of course it’ll vary with the clout of the publisher, but I’m going with 70%-15%-15%.

If Martha really is taking that high of a percentage, it won’t be for long. There’s plenty of ad networks out there who’ll give them a better deal… And Adify does typically charge 15 to 20% to its networks.

*sigh* do we really need another ad network?
